Golden Gate Volcano
A pocket of extreme heat develops beneath San Francisco and
the rest of the Bay Area. The earth trembles unrelentingly,
steam geysers appear in many locations, and seismologists try
frantically to find out what is causing the phenomena.
Time runs out. The Golden Gate Channel bottom blasts skyward
two miles west of the Golden Gate Bridge. A cinder cone rises
in the channel, gushes lava, and threatens to block
shipping - the Bay Area's economic lifeline. Thousands die as
the eruption causes an inside-the-bay tsunami.
Oakland and Berkeley are virtually destroyed, and
San Francisco lies under a deepening carpet of volcanic ash.
Nature is to blame. But - the United States government is complicit. |
